Here come the bridesmaids

Katie, Robin and I went to David's Bridal this weekend and tried on dresses. So much fun! I tried them on for Lisa too since she won't be back in time to try one on and order it. We're pretty much the same size anyway. This first picture is the dress Katie got and it's the right color, apple! It fits her like a glove and she looks amazing. She's going to be a beautiful maid of honor. Robin chose the dress I'm wearing in the second picture and that's the one Lisa is leaning toward also. It's very nice and has pockets, which is neat. My girls will be wearing wedges of their choice since they'll be walking through grass. There's still lots of details to think about like hair, accessories, and makeup but the hard part is over!

Rodeo

At the Metro bus stop ready to go rodey owen! Wait, that's my cousin's kid's name. Seriously, Rodey Owen.

Fried Oreos were actually really good!

Katie enjoyed the fried Oreos, but not as much as she would have enjoyed the fried Snickers if the line wasn't too long. Next year, she is getting her fried Snickers.

Eli Young Band was pretty good, but they were nervous. It's cool that they played the rodeo though!

Robin's comin from the big D and I mean Dallas

That's right! Robin's coming today! Robin is my cousin, friend and bridesmaid and she is coming from Dallas to Houston for the weekend. I am so excited because we are going to have a fun filled time. Tonight we are going to the Houston Rodeo to see the Eli Young Band and eat some fried yummies. Katie loves the fried Snickers. I'm going to try fried Oreos this year. I hear they're delicious.

Saturday will be a day of decorating the house! Robin has a degree in photography and has worked for an interior design firm before. I can't wait to see what kind of ideas she has for the house!

Saturday afternoon, me, Katie and Robin are going to try on bridesmaid dresses at David's Bridal! I include myself b/c I'm trying on dresses for my bridesmaid Lisa since she'll be in China through the summer. OK so I tried to post links to the dresses she wants me to try on, but it wouldn't work. I'm currently not a fan of Blogger. I'll post pics next week when we have rodeo and dress pictures! Have a great weekend!

A bit of silliness really

Wow. I'm glad the days of highlighting my hair are over. Every stylist I go to now want to give me highlights. I'm going to stick with my hair's natural beauty as God created it. Sounds good to me.

Did you know that I love music? Like, I really love it. If only guitar playing and singing were easy. If Jacob's going to be traveling this often, I really need to work on my guitar skills. It would be so awesome if I got better every time he was away and we could jam together when he came home. It is so cool that I'm going to marry a musician. :)

Happy Birthday!

I am so amazed by all of my kind and wonderful friends! I got 2 calls this morning through Skype, one from Jacob and the other from Lisa! It was so great to hear their voices today as I miss them terribly. Vishal was actually the first person to tell me happy birthday today at 12:03. Congrats Vishal, you win the award :) My mom and dad and grandparents all called singing Happy Birthday, which is awesome as well. AND I get to see my parents tonight!

This birthday is turning out to be the best one I think I've ever had actually. I was able to talk to lots of people I love this morning and Katie took me to breakfast at 59 Diner! It was so much fun spending time with her and eating delicious whole wheat pancakes and eggs. Yumm. Then on my drive to work, I hear her voice talking to me through my speakers. What? She made me a birthday CD! AND she got a lot of my friends to record messages to me on it! I haven't been able to listen to the whole thing yet, but it made me cry on the way to work. I am just continually humbled in knowing that people care about me so much to take time to do that, and that my God loves me infinitely more than that! Thank you all so much for making my birthday so special. I love y'all!!

Patience, Patience

The big day is almost here and I could not be more excited about moving in to the house! I bought a washer and dryer from Lowes this weekend so it will be delivered the day I move in. I purchased a gas dryer after a little bit of drama, but it all ended up ok. Electric vs. Gas. That was the question. I went with gas b/c the majority of my family and friends recommended gas. Hopefully no dryer fires will happen in this Whirlpool's lifetime.

Jacob has 16 more days offshore before he returns to good 'ol Louisiana. Then he'll be back in Houston on March 25. Fingers crossed! The unfortunate thing is, he's probably going to Brazil next for another month. :( It will be great experience for him, but I'm a wuss and want him to be here with me!

My grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary is coming up and we are throwing them a party! It will be so fun celebrating such a sweet and loving couple. Here's a few pictures of them back in the day at Barton Springs.

This is my grandparents with my mom when she was 3 years old! Gotta love those bangs!

It's all coming together

The mortgage and title papers are drafted up and ready for me to sign next Friday! I'm hoping to go by the house today or tomorrow to see all of the new stuff they've put in.

Just for fun, I've posted a current picture of the house I grew up in. We planted the tree in the front yard when I was a little kid. It's so neat to see how big it is now and to remember all of the good times I had there. I encourage you to google earth your childhood home and see what it looks like now!

Honeymoon

So this is one of the funnest things about getting married, but I feel like I have no time to think about it! Maybe once the house is finished and Jacob returns from the ocean we'll be able to narrow down our honeymoon choices. Since it's hurricane season, we'd like to stay away from any place that borders the Gulf. That throws out Mexico, Gulf Shores Alabama, Disney World, any Florida destination, and the Carribean. Boo!! I'd love to go to an all-inclusive resort so we don't have to worry about money while we're there, but the best all-inclusives are in Mexico. We also don't want to travel too far, b/c that gets pricey. My parents have graciously offered to pay for the honeymoon so we'd like to keep it reasonable. Aruba seems like a great option b/c it's hurricane-free, but it's very expensive and kind of a long flight. Any suggestions?? We're looking for all-inclusive with yummy food mainly :)
