A day to celebrate

Our sweet Katie Bug married the love of her life Chris Kilmer on 10-22-11 in La Grange, TX. The wedding was at Carby Chapel on the grounds of LutherHill. It was absolutely beautiful and everything that Katie wanted.
We all had a great time.
Even Jacob.

And mom and dad. I love this picture of them.

China Cabinet Makeover

I got this perfect china cabinet from a co-worker with the intent of giving it new life. It needed some major help.
I decided to paint it and distress it at first. The distressing didn't turn out as planned so I just painted the whole darn thing a grayish-white color and left it that way. I painted the inside gray and later painted some of the trim gray too. Spray paint was perfect for revitalizing the knobs and pulls. Wishing I had a better camera to do this piece justice right about now. Forgive the cell phone pics.

I actually ended up removing the glass doors because they were warped and didn't close. Now it is open and in need of some shelves. Those will be coming soon!! Finished product pics, hopefully with better camera, are on the way.

I've added a few more clips to my repertoire. Is that how you spell that weird word?

Aggie Wreath

Happy Friday everyone!! I finally finished the wreath I was working on. I was going to make an autumn wreath, but I wasn't sure I would finish before fall was over, so I decided on an Aggie wreath. It has a little owl looking over at a football. Football season is right around the corner so I'm showing my Aggie spirit on my front door! Whoop and Gig 'Em!!!

Update: Hair Barrettes

I'm testing the waters with these hair clipies for Humna. Her mom really liked the 3 peas in a pod barrette from giddygiddy.com, so I attempted to reproduce it. What do you think?
Now, I don't know how much her mom liked the birdie clipie from giddygiddy.com, but I liked it a lot so I made one of those. What should I make next? I'm thinking ice cream cone, flower, bumble bee...

Cornhole

Yep. You heard me. Cornhole. It's a game that is largely popular up north (Ohio mainly). Jacob's dad's family is from the booming town of Enterprise, Ohio. Google it if you dare. It won't show up. That's how booming it is.

Anyway, we decided to make a cornhole game of our own. After blood, sweat and tears (well, no tears), we are satisfied with our finished product. Poor picture quality, but you get the gist.
The ATM emblem was definitely the trickiest part. Jacob had the best idea, which was to put lots of tape on the board, then cut out the emblem into the tape with an exacto knife, then paint inside the tape. It worked beautifully.
I also sewed 8 bean bags, filled with dry black beans to toss into the holes. They are not shown here because I am lazy.
